10-14-08 Update
Hello everyone. All is well on the post-production front. We have a scene done! I'm placing it here on the website for all to see. It doesn't give away much, but should tease you a bit. :) Work in CG land is rigorous and advancing. There's so much to do...but it's getting done.
That's pretty much it. Work is coming along great. Every day is a step closer to being finished. :)

Hurricane Ike
Yeah, we got hit. Nope, we didn't get damaged. Yes, the computer survived and all the film footage and such is fine. :) Progress has stalled a bit because virtual sets are being made and every seems to have a life. How dare they! lol. But we're coming along.

Greetings everyone,
I know I haven't posted on here in a little while. Busy busy. Between the film and other real life obligations I haven't thought about it.
For the film, things are going okay. There has been an odd slow down of updates by several members of the staff, but we hope to remain on schedule. I'm keeping that schedule under wraps though just in case we fall behind. I'm hoping we don't. As always, as things are updated and I get new and exciting visuals to post on the website I will, but this recent lull has derailed the update train. Such is the nature of a fan film. Peaks and valleys. It happens.

Greetings,
I noticed I got into a robotic mode of posting the same way all the time. Blame my military background...and the fact that I work with the space program for that matter. lol. Anyway, a lack of blog updates by me over the past few weeks does not mean things aren't coming along. Contrary to that, they are progressing well. It's just that there isn't much to tell you all because a lot of it is just keying footage and getting everything ready for when the models are done and the virtual sets can be composited into the footage.
I am adding some cool pics to the website though, of the Kaminoan Jedi Master Ostar. They are all preliminary renders, accenting the scar on his eye that was added by our modeler. God bless www.scifi3d.com for having so many great free models to use as a baseline, and our great character modelers and animators for working this into something special. :) That's pretty much it for now. Stay tuned. :)

Meeting Summary (7-17-08)
Last nights meeting was a good one. I'm not going to go into a lot of detail because it was over 3 hours long, but it accomplished a few things.
First, I went down the recent updates by the staff, showed pictures and fun stuff like that. Then, we talked about the keying of the footage and how George (our VFX Supervisor) is developing a keying protocol to help make this a less painful process. And lastly, we worked with Greg Sandor in setting up the flyover shot of the Jedi Academy, mainly the placement and alignment of the central fountain, plus a look at foliage and the altitude of the camera to deliver the best shot.
That's it. I can't go into greater detail because some stuff is secret. :) Suffice to say this movie is coming along great.
Regards,
Douglas Mallette
