I am really pushing for a March release, but there is SO much to do. I can only push so hard. After all, it's all volunteer and real life does have the tendency to mess with the schedule. :(

This is looking very good! Any update on a potential release date?

Great work! Thank you for the email updates, and all the best to the whole team. Hope you get time to enjoy the Holidays too :) .

Thanks! It sometimes seems like we're not doing much with the film, but everything is working in parallel. The way it's going, all scenes are going to be done at the same time and not very staggered. lol.

Matt F. - Thanks for the tip. Care to join the team? :) We do need some more animation savvy people.

Nice one guys. Congrats on the effort put in so far.

Tip for 3ds max and Battlestar like cameras:

Link a large null object to you fighter and apply a noise constraint to it with a float constraint inside it (to dial down/up the noise with a graph). Have the camera "look at" the null object instead of the fighter and it will have slight tracking issues and if you dial it in, will "lose" the fighter and then catch up and have it in frame. probably works best for shots that don't have the camera changing targets from one ship to another.

Hey, another Doug. lol. Hope people don't get confused. Better use the "title" in my signature from now on just in case. :)

I really like this project, hope to see it until the end. The clips are great, and so is everything else!

We're working to have the premiere in Orlando, Florida at the Orlando Science Center using their IMAX theater. It's going to be a fund raising event for the the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, cancer research. We hope to get a run of a few weekends, but I guess that depends on how the premiere goes.

After that, it goes online on all the major video sharing sites, torrent sharing sites, and will be put on this website for direct download. It's going to be DVD quality, so the point is to watch it on your home entertainment center, unless that happens to be your computer. :)

Don't bash the Maya users...it takes all kinds of people and all kinds of software to do something of this magnitude. Lightwave, 3DMax, Maya, etc. :) We love everyone!

Lastly, we are hoping to get this into film festivals, but since many of them are geared toward shorts (like 15 minutes or less), I'm not sure how they'd receive a film that's almost 90 minutes long. :)

yeah, good work so far. !! I hope you guys get some real success. How will it be shown or ditributed to people to see?
By mike at Tuesday 08 July 2008
nice work in 3d max. I'm glad to hear it's being done in 3d max. I am sick of hearing about maya. I don't like maya, since I was raised on max, have been using it since 1998. nice star wars shots and shure...will it be shown in a film festival...?
